Multiparametric Prostate MRI

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, after lung cancer, and early diagnosis is crucial, as with all types of cancer. The diagnosis of prostate cancer is usually made through biopsy guided by ultrasound. However, this type of biopsy may have some significant side effects. Since clear imaging is not always achieved as in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), there is a possibility that cancerous areas may be missed. Additionally, many men tend to avoid this method.

Multiparametric Prostate MRI is a non-invasive, cost-effective, advanced imaging method that does not negatively affect the quality of life. It allows for imaging of the prostate gland and surrounding tissues and is important in diagnosing prostate cancer, infections, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or congenital abnormalities.

It is used to evaluate the presence of cancer before a prostate biopsy, in cases where there is strong suspicion even if the biopsy result is negative, to assess the size and spread of cancer if a diagnosis has been made, and to monitor possible recurrences and treatment effectiveness after therapy.

Some prostate cancers are harmless, while others have an aggressive course. Although its incidence is high, treatment for some harmless prostate cancers is not always necessary and they do not cause clinically significant problems if left untreated.

Multiparametric MRI shows much finer details compared to standard prostate MRI, and with this advanced technology, 3D and high-resolution images of the prostate gland can be obtained.

With the three 3 Tesla MRI devices in our centers, equipped with the most advanced and cutting-edge hardware and software, you can get an appointment quickly.

Why is it needed?

  • To evaluate whether a biopsy is needed
  • As a guide for biopsy
  • In the active monitoring of untreated patients
  • To determine the size and spread of cancer
  • In congenital abnormalities
  • In detecting complications related to pelvic surgeries
